Embrace the Truth

No one is in your corner, ladies, like Florence Littauer, author of Wake Up, Women! And don’t let the word submission on the cover scare you. It’s way more than that scary subject. In fact, she says we can follow God’s Word and not be “stupid” doing it!

Littauer “inspires and encourages women in all walks of life–married, single, widowed, or dating–to refuse denial, to reevaluate priorities, to resist manipulation, and to release the life-changing power of their true, God-given personalities!”

This is a get-down-to-business type book written with honesty and openness. Littauer discusses subjects important to women from trusting your intuition, boomerang children, and surviving widowhood to managing your money, abuse, and two-way communication with God.

It appears she has not left any subject out and fills each one with practical advice that can be put to good use immediately. If you are a fan of personality surveys, Littauer uses several to help with assessing what we are doing right and where we can improve.

Of particular interest is Littauer’s review of the four personality types [she has written three other books just on this subject] and how each one relates to all the subjects in the book. She points out that when we understand a person’s personality type, we can react with intelligent thoughts and actions.

How can we spot each other’s emotional needs so we can meet them? We begin by understanding the inherent needs felt by certain personality types. . . .Can you see just from this peek at the personalities how close to hopeless it is for us to try to live together in harmony without an understanding of why we are so different from each other?

In view of the world’s ills right now, perhaps we should all be reading this book! [By the way, Littauer’s husband has written a companion book, Wake Up, Men!]
